This blog is a running journal of random thoughts, daily experiences, some potentially useless information, interests, beliefs, causes, dreams and goals... so that we may share in the art of knowing... despite the vast differences in our geographic locations... in an effort to remain close and involved in each others distinctly unique lives.

Buon Natale

Patrick and I are getting ready to take off for our holiday. It is very sad that we will not be spending Christmas with Bobby this year. We miss him horribly. Risa is very close to her due date and cannot travel. This is the first holiday we will be apart in 21 years. Next year we are going to be together for the holidays.

Patrick and I are heading to New York via Canada and will be visiting Alan and Noreen along the way. Along the northern route home Patrick will have the opportunity to do some snowboarding!!

We will see all of you next year! Have a wonderful holiday!!!

Make Your Life A Little Greener

Everybody can help save the world, every day, with small choices that have big impacts. Here's a list of ways you can tread more lightly on the Earth this holiday season!

Make your life a little Greener

Water

Fix any leaky faucets, toilets or water pipes. Even a small drip can add up to a lot of water over time.
Wash your car the natural way - wait until it rains.
Install water saving faucets.

Energy

Conserve fuel by turning down the heat at night and while you are away from your home — or install a programmable thermostat.
Use compact fluorescent light bulbs.
Insulate your home against heat loss and periodically check insulation.
Fix air leaks with weather stripping and caulking.
In the winter, change your furnace air filters once a month. The heater uses more energy when it is full of dust.
Insulate your electric hot water heater and pipes. Do not, however, insulate gas heaters and only start insulating gas heater pipes about six inches away from the heater.
Avoid using cars — walk, cycle or use public transportation whenever possible.
Avoid anything battery operated (or use rechargables or solar rechargables if batteries are unavoidable).
Buy locally — not only is it good for the local economy, it will save energy because products haven’t traveled across the globe to get to you.

Toxics

Use non-toxic cleaning alternatives in your home, such as the ones listed in the booklet.
Furnish your home with furniture made out of natural fibres, wood, metal and glass.
Avoid the use of polyvinyl chloride (also known as PVC or vinyl) in your home. The entire life cycle of products made from PVC pollutes the environment and your home. PVC items include shower curtains, flooring, even some children’s toys.
Avoid the use of aerosols.
Use castor or mineral oils to lubricate switches and hinges instead of lubricants containing solvents.
Choose water based latex paints over solvent based paints when painting your home. Never use lead based paints.
If you have a furnace, fireplace or gas heater, have them serviced regularly to prevent deadly fumes and install a carbon monoxide detector.
Ensure you have good ventilation and balanced humidity in your home to prevent the growth of mould and mildew, which can be harmful to your health.

Waste

Do not throw out your toxic household wastes, such as paint, paint thinner, and car fluids, in the garbage or down the drain. Check with your local facilities for proper disposal and avoid these products in the future.
Take your own bags to the grocery store. If you take plastic bags, use them until they are worn out.
Compost your food waste and use as nutrient rich soil for your lawn.
Avoid excess packaging.
Always use reusables mugs, lunch containers, batteries, pens, razors, etc.
Replace paper products with reusable ones (use recycled, non-chlorine bleached paper when you do have to use paper).

Train Wreck

I have submitted a little profile and a picture of myself to a site very commonly used on the Internet ... looking like a train wreck.

This came about after my friend and I had a conversation on how superficial people really are. Being a man he denied this. Being a woman of course ...a debate commenced. A good example would be the program Ugly Betty that is new this season.

Admitted, chemistry is very important .... what is most important in a relationship ... obviously a healthy balance of mental and physical stimulation ... however, since we had both watched Ron Whites, "you can't fix stupid" DVD....the profile was developed. I happen to believe that the brain is the sexiest part! That is the question now isn't it?

I would in fact like to meet someone that could be a life long partner and that I could madly and passionately love. That is a given. So I didn't really see the harm this could do. Who knows right? Right.

So if you have come this far and you are reading this .... are YOU Mr. Right? Are you here to redeem my faith and restore all hope after a jaded past consumed my ideals regarding the possibility of a healthy relationship? If so .... I have been waiting for you for a long time .... please email right away!!!!

My train wreck profile has been viewed 123 times as of this morning .... with only a few polite responses!

Obviously it will take someone remarkable to realize what it is that I have to offer and am capable of in a relationship. Desperation is not an issue so I can be very selective at this point. I find it very unlikely I will meet the man of my dreams this way. I don't usually play the lottery. I do believe everything happens for a reason .... so lets give this a whirl. And despite the scar tissue that remains from the relationships of my past, I am still a hopeless romantic. And as society has drilled into every little girls head ... Mr. Right is out there .... you just have to believe!

Now it is my position that if I dress it up like a Blonde barbie without a brain ... I would be jamming with email. That is certainly an insult to both men and women isn't it? Very sad.

We will see how long I can tolerate the rejection and I will report back to you soon as to how many men are just in it for the package without brains!

I decided to use this specific picture to demonstrate a point to my friend. Even Barbie will sag and drag in time! What will you be left to do in an attempt to fix stupid? Well, my point has been proven before this post is even published. I will remove the profile today in fairness to men in general.

I have come to the conclusion, in just seconds, that mass level rejection is not a good thing even when you anticipate it all along. I have been the plain Jane in the crowd of Barbies my entire life. So that is nothing new. Do these men even read the person's profile? Certainly not!

However, it remains alarming to me none the less. I am up to 159 men who have zipped right by after one click on my profile to see my pretty picture! The Ugly Betty analysis is alive and very real in the world today.

Men are simply men and sex appeal still sells as it has for generation after generation. The plain Jane's of our society will continue to sit by the way side while Barbie gets all the action.

All in all ... when you get right down to it ... I rather have a brain. Everyone, to include all Barbie's everywhere, is without question... ugly in the morning ... everyone has bad breath and bed head.... I don't care how much beauty, money, education or charisma you have.... you too are an Ugly Betty in the morning!!! Clearly I was correct in my thought process.

I wonder ... does Barbie ever want to be plain? Oh damn, that's right, she doesn't have a brain! The poor thing! I feel so sorry for her ....

Cruz385, from the Bronx, thinks I am HOT! He seems like a very kind man, he is 48 and is in the construction field. You Go Cruz Barbie!!!

The Purge Begins

Well, today I am purging ... getting ready for the rest of my life. Is that not exciting!!!!!

I have scheduled shredit to appear and destroy the records of my past! LOL In the midst of my purge I came across this photo of Alan and I. I think it was taken in 2003 at Bobby's graduation party and we appear a bit blasted. Hum ... maybe Noreen took this photo? I cannot be sure but it seems about right.

Room by room, drawer, closet, box .... I am sorting out what stays and what goes. I have apparently accumulated a lot of needless shit in five years. Somethings I am keeping for the boys, somethings to the wonderful garbage man over the next few weeks, and other things to the goodwill. I have 90 days to get this accomplished and time will pass very quickly. I am so excited for March to get here!!!!

I spoke with Alan yesterday about his upcoming European tour. Patrick and I are going to try and meet him, Noreen and Julia in Austria this coming summer. That would be wonderful!!!

OK ...Back to the salt mines ....

Good and Evil ...People ....

"By my estimates, about four percent of the population is evil - that is about one person in twenty five.

The mental abilities of evil people closely echo those of the normal population; there is a bell shaped curve of intelligence in both good and evil people.
Most good people are only aware of the least intelligent part of the evil distribution; those are the people who are obviously evil: criminals. The normal and intelligent ends of the evil distribution totally escape most good people's understanding. In this web page I will describe those undetected parts of evil.

What does an evil person of normal intelligence look like? Most people are very familiar with them. An evil person of normal intelligence is a person who makes life difficult, painful, and unpleasant for the good people around them.

Evil people of normal intelligence are careful to do their best to blend into good society. This insulates and protects them from the angered reaction of good people; who would hammer them just as hard as they hammer the least intelligent of the evil. Indeed, evil people of normal intelligence are so successful at blending into good society that their statements, goals and culture have become 'normal' and 'accepted'.

By far evil people of normal intelligence are the most common type of evil person most people encounter. The stress in most good people's lives comes from interaction with evil people of normal intelligence. The goal of the average evil person is to make the lives of those around them as miserable as they can - without doing enough to attract the retribution they richly deserve.

Next up the ladder is the evil person of above average intelligence. These people have a similar goal to evil people of average intelligence; the production of human misery. However these people see the opportunity to do something that evil people of normal intelligence don't see how to do; murder someone and get away with it. They understand that the way to murder someone and get away with it is to not care who they kill, how they kill them, or when they kill them. Such people set up conditions where someone will be 'accidentally' killed and wait for the circumstances to occur.

That leaves us those who are evil and of high intelligence. Most good people are also familiar with these kind of people; we call them leaders - both of industry and of government. It is the goal of such people to get away with mass murder. An example will show how they work their agenda.

If you look at the Vietnam War none of it makes much sense; not from a political standpoint, not from an economic standpoint, and certainly not from a military standpoint. Let us examine the well known case of 'Hamburger Hill'; a battle location in the Vietnam war. In this engagement US forces fought their way up a hill against fierce opposition. Once the US forces had taken the hill they were ordered to MARCH BACK DOWN giving the hill back to the opposition. The action was repeated several times.

The argument given was that the US forces were exhausting the enemy by forcing them to fight repeatedly. Of course the conventional military strategy is to exhaust the opposition forces by making them attempt to re-take the hill by force of arms - rather than by giving it back to them uncontested. The 'Hamburger Hill' strategy makes no sense whatsoever - unless you assume that very high up in the US government was an evil person of high intelligence whose goal was to murder ten's of thousands of people and get away with it. When thought of this way, the entire War in Vietnam snaps into focus and makes sense - as far as I know, that is the ONLY explanation of the war that allows it to be understandable.

If you are a good person you will meet many evil people in your life, you need to recognize them and their actions. More importantly you need to recognize which evil behaviors you have been conned into excepting as reasonable and to reject those behaviors - both in yourself and in others - as unacceptable.

Of course Yin and Yang complicates the detection of evil; in any good person there is an element of evil - in any evil person there is an element of good. In a good man that element of evil belongs in his fighting spirit - where it causes no harm and strengthens his nature. Incidentally, it is because of this element of evil in the fighting spirit that good triumphs over evil; it is something evil lacks."
