Tactile and Totally Recognisable

Well for as many people on the planet who oppose technology I must say I am pretty thrilled with it. Due to the development of photo text messaging and the MOTORAZR V3 I was able to receive instant photos of my new Grandson Dylan, right from the delivery room!

At any given moment you can instantly receive photos of any event that is taking place. Risa text messaged me a picture of Dylan yesterday. Since the kids are in the military, me being an active part of my new Grandson's life will be difficult to say the least.

However, between the photo cell phones, instant messaging and web cams ... there is actually a chance that, with minimal effort and cost, Dylan will know his Nonna and I will not have to miss out on any of his developments, milestones and accomplishments.

The photo shown here on this blog under the Entry listed as "Welcome To the World" posted 18 January was taken using this specific photo cell phone. AMAZING!

So ... two thumbs up to Motorola and those responsible for the advancemnt of tactile technologies today!!

Motorola also gets huge points for their effort to give back on a larger scale. Motorola is also a global partner of (PRODUCT)RED. My Veil of Fat

WARMING ... WARNING ... This could happen to you!!!

If you are a skinny person don't think this cannot happen to you!!! It certainly can for a multitude of reasons ...none of which need to have anything to do with food... no one on the planet is excluded from the risk of becoming fat. Well maybe those starving in poverty should be excluded.

We are a generation of fat chicks. And you men out there ... is your belly starting to resemble that of your wife in her third trimester of pregnancy? And is that sexy? I don't think so. So don't fool yourself with some double standard that women are the only ones who look bad carrying around the extra baggage life has handed them. They after all have often wrecked their bodies for the sake of providing you a child or two along the way. This seems a reasonable excuse compared to a few buds with the boys.

So ... as Americans we are told to clean our plates and eat super sized everyting. You must not ever insult the cook. They worked hard to prepare your meal. They worked endless hours to buy that food and if they had nothing else to offer ... they had food. Mounds and mounds of food. In my family food works for every emotion. Food is the center of every event no matter the reason for the gathering. There will always be great food!!! And my god the portions we consume today have quadrupled compared to those of our Ancestors.

And if it does happen to you? Does it mean you are less of a person, does it mean you hate yourself, do you eat for comfort to fill some vast void in your life, did 5 pounds become 10 and so on, or is there some medical issue that has caused you to grow in massive amounts ... to the point you barely recognize yourself ... are you there, a skinny person, consumed by a veil of fat????

For whatever the reason ... it happens. And as a relatively thick person (OK ... a fat chick) at this point in my life ... it is very depressing. Your mind is apparently the only body part that does not get fat. As a passionate single woman, I can close my eyes, and imagine ... many wonderful things ... (I will leave those details to the imagination) and ... I will be damned if in my imagination I am a fat chick. Not even close. I am one hot babe. My imagination does not think that I am fat!!!

For example ... the girl on the right ... her liver is now fat. Your mind however, continues to function as if you were a skinny person. Emotionally you are still a skinny person inside and at the same time a fat chick people are making fun of and that your children rather not been seen with in public.

I cannot know the reason you are shrouded by the veil of fat ... but I came by my veil due to a combination of reasons. I was about 20 pounds heavier than when I graduated high school in August. Two kids and 20 years later ... the 20 was sticking to me! But, I was working on it. I just simply love food. Then I was diagnoised with cancer. I had the surgery ... and before I left the hospital gained another 15 pounds. Add to that the 20 from quitting smoking and my fat veil is thickening. Additionally I have a bonus, that many do not, I do not have a thyroid and when things change in my body chemically I am at risk to stretch my veil to the point that the seems are about to burst as I stretch it around me!! Consequently, with pasta being one of my favorite foods and medical issues .... fat ..... I am all over it. I have being a fat chick down.

For me personally, this is not a good thing physically or emotionally. I can end up in a very dark place emotinally and physically my organs do not like being fat. My liver in particular hates it. I do not begin to find jiggle jiggle to be an attractive attribute.

So consequently, being tired of the original 20 that woudln't leave.... I have come to the conclusion that I have to change my life. I have to reprogram myself to love food but moderately. I refuse to wear my fat veil for life. I may occasionally ... a few extra pounds in the winter or over the holidays ... but not for life.

I have recently purchased a book called the Total Wellbeing Diet by Dr. Manny Noakes. It is the #1 Australian Bestseller. It is not a typical diet that promises the sun and works temporarily. It is about changing your lifestyle. The diet is specially designed to provide not just weight loss, but also to protect and build the dieter's total health-so there is careful emphasis on including all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals needed for peak immune function, strong bones and high energy, as well as for avoiding long term diseases like diabetes, cancer, and cardio-vascular conditions. The eating plan is not based on complicated calorie counting, but instead uses a simple exchange system based on a daily allowance of servings in 5 basic food categories (protein, dairy, fruits & vegetables, breads & cereals and health fats.)

    The program's eating plan includes:

    - A wide and flexible variety of foods that leave the dieter feeling fully satisfied, never hungry and never subject to cravings.
    - The eating plan is flexible and allows the kind of variation (at restaurants, etc.) that makes a diet truly livable.
    - The book includes tools to help the dieter track daily servings (so they can easily adapt the menus for their personal use) and overall progress.
    - Includes a graduated exercise program, so that its recommendations are appropriate for dieters of all fitness levels.
    - Features 12 weeks of eating plans that include full daily menus.
    - Includes over 100 easy-to-prepare and delicious recipes, featuring adaptations of popular Mediterranean and Asian cuisines.
    - Beautifully illustrated with four-color photography, the book provides a spa-like reading experience.

110th Congress ... A New World At Hand

55 delegates attended the Constitutional Convention sessions. Together they are said to have generated one of the great works of mankind.

They crafted a document which stands as the basis of the society in which we reside. They did this while displaying the utmost statesmanship and they were masters in the art of compromise. They did so with little convenience, technology or the splendor of hindsight.

They gathered together to generate an ideal that would change the direction of mankind. It would go on to not only impact but protect the lives of those not yet born of their blood.

Over 230 years later, another group of men and women have the power to assemble together to do just that. The 110th Congress. Can you imagine having the power and the responsibility to roll around in the art of compromise for the sake of mankind? It is really that simple if you think about it.

This body of elected officials , is merely 535 men and women who have the power, to gather together, and agree, to literally save the destiny of mankind! Together, as individuals, not as politicians, as individuals, they possess the ability, the character, morals and statesmanship, ... to take back peace and humanity for generations to come!! Can you imagine 535 individuals collectively gathering to do just that ... to save mankind? It really has come down to that.

Lets just try and think about this at a very basic level. Why even complicate the issues? This is not about politics afterall. Think about it.... if 534 people you knew or lived near you gathered and said, "Look, the future of mankind is at stake here and if we do not come up with some sound solutions to the problems of X, Y, and Z, the planet will be destroyed and the future generations will not have medical insurance, food, housing or education...." .... don't you think everyone would jump on board and try to solve the problem? .... why is this such a hard concept for the most statesman of men we have elected?

They have the power, the opportunity, the mental aptitude and resources, to eliminate poverty and hunger, save the planet from destruction, provide housing, medical coverage, make sure every person has safe drinking water and education for every person on the planet!

As far as job satisfaction goes, it really doesn't get any better than that! You can't give back on a much bigger scale, well maybe the whole dying for our sins does top it ... but saving the planet, eliminating world poverty?

Imagine returning home from an extended tour in Washington to have dinner with your wife. She asks you, "Honey, how was your trip to Washington". Your reply, "Oh, just the usual dear, we were able to eliminate world poverty this week and next week we are going to stop global warming"!! What is it going to take to wake these people up! They are supposed to be the best of the best. They are the ones we have elected to do the right thing for the sake of the people.

We can no longer afford to view these issues as political issues. These are the biggest moral challenges facing our global civilization.

Can you imagine having such an extreme responsibility ? Can you imagine given that opportunity and responsibility to do just that … that you would squander your duties? I think not. Most individuals do not in this life time ever have an opportunity to give back in this life to such an magnitude. I wonder, given this was acutally your job .... as it is their's ... what kind of job performance review would you get? Certainly not a life time severance package with insurance coverage.

I am certain the great burden the average man would feel would certainly render him immobile until he did just that … until he saved mankind! I am also confident that there is enough money in the budget to cover an endless amount of take out until these matters are resolved.

Certainly these chosen few, the 535 of them, could sequester themselves for the sake of mankind! How long could it actually take? If they approached the actual issues with the urgency required and with the critical magnitude that is required…. Certainly not longer than their elected terms! Hell, they are being paid to do this …. afterall.

These select individual statesmen, they have the power to be the ones, who saved the generations to come!

So please ... for the sake of all men .... sequester yourselves …. eat endless mounds of take out … for the sake of mankind. Realize the urgency and magnitude of the crisis we face.

Margaret Mead once said ~ "Never underestimate the ability of a small group of committed individuals to change the world. Indeed, they're the only ones who ever have."

Imagine ... 535 people have the power to save or destroy the world. I fear ... they cannot see, that they do not understand the magnitude of their positions, the moral responsibility they hold in their hands as individuals, nor do they realize the implications of their complaicent acts.

We the People .... we are depending on you and we are out of time!!!!!

    Christmas in New York

Patrick and I spent Christmas in New York at my cousin Alan's house. His wife Noreen and their daughter Julia were both very kind and gracious! We had a wonderful time. Aunt Barb, Ellen who is Noreen's mother and her brother were all present for a wonderful meal Alan prepared. Patrick and I spent two days in the city exploring. And together as a family outing Noreen had arranged for us to travel to the FDR Presidential Library and Home. The tour was remarkable and just what this country needs about now.... FDR that is.

The video will be ready soon and follow in a separate post.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!
